I am Crackin'

We got new cell phones this weekend and I officially know why they call BlackBerries, CRACKberries. They are so fun, and so addictive and I am doing all I can to not be one of "those" people. But it is damn hard when this handy little device gives me my schedule, to-do list, email, texts, AND the new Coldplay song. Damn it is awesome-ness.

Throw in a new zombie read, my favorite chapstick, and iPod remote and going to be has never been so good.

Awesome Crackin'.

In the Tomato Shade

Today I was spending some time in our garden, weeding and training and pulling plants past their prime. And as I crouched by the beds with the hot sun beating down, the wind shifted and blew the tomato plants just enough to shade me. I was suddenly in a mini garden jungle in cool shade inhaling the scent of growing things and dirt. It was bliss.

Wild boxes, half ready to dump large hauls, half replanted for a new summer crop.
A baby green bean, can you see it?
Tomato jungles.
Five feet of green beans.
Tethered.

Father's Day Gift

What do you get a guy for Father's Day when he has everything he wants or buys it for himself? You make him something! This past Father's Day I made Casey a picture, to be specific a silhouette of Twain. It is perfectly imperfect, shows our boys lovely face and it makes me happy to think of Twain. It took him a second to figure out what it was, but then he traced the line of Twain's nose, I knew that I had gotten it right.
I must say that this is my favorite Father's Day gift ever!

Tied Up Twisted the Way We Like to Be

Whew, it is finally Friday. My favorite day of the week, the Casey day. Alex and I have been busy this week with work for me, many play days for him, saying good bye to a very special friend, gardening, Lego building, bread baking, and new sheet loving.

Can you say Monkey love?? My mom gave Alex these sheets from Target and they are perfect for our summer. A summer that is keeping us busy outdoors and enjoying the late hours.

We have so much to do this week in preparation for our duo vacation. We must pack our bags, get Alex all packed up, get the dogs to the borders, the mail stopped, the friends setup to water the garden (and snag my first haul of tomatoes), and all our regular stuff too!

So blame my absence on the summer months and all the busy things that are tying us up.

Mr. Frog

Mr. Frog has found an ideal spot right in our flower pot by the front door.
Right under the drip from the AC overflow.
Smart frog.

A Little Listy

  • Tomorrow is the last day of school for Alex!
  • I have been working out, and my arms currently hate me.
  • Which means I love heat patches and BenGay.
  • Sammy dog is still crazy.
  • My Garden is crazy as well, but in a fabulous way.
  • Made the tastiest potatoes last night ala Pioneer woman.
  • Have I mentioned that my BFF is home? Gah I missed her.
  • Less then a month till our trip to Cancun!
  • Did I mention that it is Cancun we are going too? Well close to it anyways.
  • It is officially hurricane season! Which means NOAA is my first fav site right now.
  • Speaking of Favorite sites, I won a month long contest at Home Sanctuary ! Thanks Rachel Anne!
  • We saw the new Indiana Jones, and I didn't like it. * Gasp* It was super cheesy and predictable. Sorry Indy I so wanted to love you.
  • My Husband is the best, seriously that man is awesome. He needs Kudos too you know! :)
  • I put flannel back on the bed, and it wasn't even my idea! Casey requested it, so I have officially converted another one to the flannel year round side.
  • I all ready miss LOST, so lame I know, but it is SOOOOOOO Good! Bad Robot!

The End

The Organic Alarm Clocks

When you live in a household full of dogs, you learn their body language real quick. Or you establish firm rules and schedules. For instance, the big girls (Penny Bella Jenna) sleep in the garage every night, they are in by dark and out pretty much first thing in the morning. They know they have some place warm and dry to sleep and they know that doing their business in there is a No-No, so they wait till we let them out. Admittedly it is always interesting trying to train a new pup that they have to wait till they hit the lawn in the yard to commence their duties, so accidents are always forgiven.

As for the muffins who sleep inside, we listen for the telltales collar jingle in the morning. Archie is usually the one to run around the bed a few dozen times, licking what ever flesh colored appendage he can reach to get us up. The Muffins usually always have to wait for me to get up and head downstairs to go out. It is slightly endearing that I am so integral to their physical needs, annoying as hell when I want to sleep in and Casey is all ready at the bottom of the stairs calling for them to go out and they won't leave the bedroom. But mostly they wait till we are up, regardless of the time. Mostly.

Add in temporary Dog #6, Sammy. The dog who only goes two times a day according to my Dad, and who really goes in actuality more like 4 times a day and that doesn't count #1's. He usually ignores the rules in our house, so much so that the first couple days of his visits are usually full of NoSammys! and plenty of crate time. We completely avoid the nighttime accidents by crating him and then he lets us know when he is going to burst with a very annoying whine. But it works until somebody other then us decides to train him.

But this morning at 6:45 am, on the one morning that I had planned on sleeping in till 8:00am, we were woken up by the sounds of screaming. First thinking it was Alex, Casey dashed into his room to still find Bugman lumped under his down comforter. Turns out Archie was having a nightmare, downstairs, and was howling/screaming in his sleep. When he has done this in the past it is usually pitch black and he is laying in bed with us. We always can get him to stop within the first moment because he is right there at our legs. But today he was howling away downstairs, which was suspicious, till he woke himself up. Then he made his way upstairs quick as can be and trembled in between Casey and I until I couldn't stand the Sammy whines any more and I started the Potty Time process. Which was about 2 minutes later.

I must say in their many legged defence, that dogs are easy peasy if rules are established early on. But it never fails that there is some unexpected glitch on the morning when I want to sleep in.
